The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart. Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory? n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in. What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired. One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places. Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.

其那日图,耿晓璐,李进江,管宗祥,马力,东涛,谢淑惠,韩廷琦,刘魁,张家福公安人员朝鲁和助手刘小克奉命到内蒙古草原的诺敏塔拉牧场，重新审理发生在一年前的3万元现金失盗案。当时重点怀疑对象李莉已经精神失常，而另一个怀疑对象陈明清也突然在太原旅馆服毒身亡。朝鲁与牧场保卫科长白云等人急赴太原现场，于现场发现有另一人的行迹。据旅馆服务员讲，陈明清被害的当天晚上曾有人来电话找他。朝鲁分析，打电话的人很可能就是出现在现场并投毒的另一人。在朝鲁等人来到现场调查的过程中，始终有一个形迹可疑的怪老头，时时探听破案的情况。究竟是谁在那天晚上去了太原旅馆？又是谁打的电话？围绕这个问题，朝鲁暗中调查了牧场几个人后，发现疑点集中在林菁菁身上。而这个林菁菁又正是他插队时的女友林志红。朝鲁抑制住了个人的情感，四处调查林在那天晚上的行踪，结果证明林当时正坐在由北京开往哈尔滨的列车上，排除了林出现在太原旅馆现场的可能。朝鲁感到宽慰的同时，又为线索中断所困惑。正在此时，有人反映牧场里曾被劳改过的伊德尔在这期间曾几次出现在太原旅馆附近街头，经调查证明现场的痕迹正是此人留下的，此人又与被害者的妻子于冬梅过从甚密。朝鲁反复做于的工作，终于摸到伊德尔的行踪，他正要寻找伊，却在一个漆黑的夜晚意外地被人暗中击晕在太原街头。白云及时赶到，将朝鲁送入医院。当于冬梅交待伊德尔的住处后，伊却被怪老头拉走，消失得无影无踪。朝鲁出院后又对于冬梅做了大量工作，并从她那儿了解到分伊并不是凶手，陈曾在被害的那天下午，在太原一家餐馆与一女人共餐。这使朝鲁又重新想起了林菁菁。为什么她要留下几张能证明她在从北京到哈尔滨列车上的照片？朝鲁又重新沿着林出走的线路调查，终于找到了证明林就是凶手的第五张照片。这时伊的失踪引起白云的不安。一日，他突然收到怪老头的信，信中声称伊德尔在他手中，可以付重金交换。白云终于上当，露出原形，原来他正是这一盗窃案的主谋。他先后利诱威胁占有了林菁菁，并借林的手杀了陈明清。见事已败露，他决定取出赃物外逃，万万没想到怪老头步步紧跟，在他挖取赃物时及时赶到。原来这怪老头就是太原公安局暗中协助破案的老侦察员。公安人员将白云、林菁菁抓获归案。朝鲁目送林菁菁被押上警车，陷入深思之中。
